About the event
Class Description: Metal Clay is a unique art medium that allows anyone to create beautiful real silver jewelry without metalsmithing experience. Thanks to its malleable consistency, metal clay can be cut, textured, carved, molded, hammered and much more.
But what is Metal Clay? It is refined silver particles mixed with an organic binder and water creating a clay like consistency. It can be torch fired and kiln fired. During the firing process, the water and binder burn out and the silver particles melt together (called sintering) leaving you with solid silver. It’s a bit scientific, but students don’t need to worry about the specifics.
In this introduction to metal clay workshop I will provide guided, hands-on instruction. I keep my workshops small so you get the one on one attention you need to be successful.
